Spectrum Key In Building Cafe Run By Students With Special needs


The Spectrum of Dreams foundation has donated $5,000 of appliances and other items to help build a cafe at Sachem East High School that will be run by students with special needs. The cafe will serve the students, faculty and staff of nearly 2500 people.

"These students are going to get real life work skills that will only enhance their quality of life following school. We are absolutely thrilled to be a part of this project," said Tim Szlosek, President of Spectrum of Dreams.

Spectrum of Dreams has donated nearly $100,000 in scholarships, supplies, therapies and resources since it came into existence in 2013. It's mission is to help special needs individuals who may require financial resources by providing support that enhances their life skills, education and quality of life.

 

Spectrum of Dream's 4th Annual Spring Fling Fundraiser


The Spectrum of Dreams Foundation will host its 4th annual Spring Fling fundraiser on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook, NY from 7-11 p.m. This is a new venue for the event.

Besides an open bar and buffet, this year's event will feature a live DJ to help dance the night away, casino games, putting and chipping contests, gift baskets, auctions and more.

"There aren't many places you can spend $70/person, eat all you want, have a drink or two, dance and play. Oh and by the way, support an amazing cause," said Tim Szlosek, President.

SPECTRUM TO HOST BREAKFAST WITH SANTA THIS SUNDAY


The Spectrum of Dreams Foundation will host its second annual Breakfast With Santa event this Sunday, December 20 from 10 am - 12 pm at the Holtsville Fire Department in Holtsville, NY.

The event is free of charge and for families facing a special need and financial difficulty.

Eggs, bacon, sausage, donuts, french toast will highlight the hot breakfast menu. Santa will be on-hand to deliver a present to each child and families can participate in craft making.

SPECTRUM FISHING TRIP SET FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 15 FROM 12-4

All the fish you can catch are yours, free lunch and drinks included

East Moriches, NY -- The Spectrum of Dreams Foundation will set sail on its 3rd annual fundraising fishing charter Wednesday, July 15 from 12-4 p.m. The cost is $40/adult and $25/child and includes lunch, drinks and all the fish you can catch.

The boat will depart from 215 Atlantic Ave in East Moriches.

All proceeds will benefit children and families facing a special need and financial difficulty.

SPECTRUM RAISES NEARLY $25,000 AT 3RD ANNUAL SPRING FLING

June 4, 2015

Sayville, NY – With over 170 people in attendance, the Spectrum of Dreams Foundation raised nearly $25,000 at its 3rd annual Spring Fling Event on Friday, May 29 at the Sayville Golf & Country Club. The funds will be used to benefit families facing a special need and financial difficulty.

Casino games, an art auction featuring the work of students with special needs, silent auction and over 100 gift baskets highlighted a night that saw the foundation raise 60% more than the previous year.

“It was a tremendous mix of people that have been here since day one and those that were seeing our work for the first time. We were blown away and humbled by the turn out and support,” said Tim Szlosek, President.

The event received generous underwriting support from Coyle & Company, Thomas & Sheryl Szlosek, J&S Recruitment, Waterjet and many others that helped make it a profitable event.

The mission of the 501(c)(3) foundation is to help children and families with a special need living on Long Island, NY who may require financial resources by providing support that enhances their life skills, education and quality of life.

 

Northwestern Mutual Awards $15,000 grant to Spectrum of Dreams

MILWAUKEE, March 30, 2015 – In the spirit of volunteerism, Northwestern Mutual, through its foundation, is recognizing Timothy Szlosek for his work as the founder of Spectrum of Dreams as a recipient of the company’s 2015 Community Service Award.

Szlosek, a wealth management advisor at Northwestern Mutual in Melville, New York, was chosen for his outstanding volunteerism, earning him a $15,000 grant for Spectrum of Dreams. The award identifies Northwestern Mutual financial professionals who demonstrate exemplary service with a local nonprofit and honors the organization with a grant on behalf of the volunteer’s work.

“With our son Shane as the inspiration, Trish and I are dedicated to helping create a positive and indelible mark on the lives of children and families with special needs,” said Szlosek. “Our goal, and what this grant will help fund, is equipping these children with tools to enhance their quality of life through scholarships and extracurricular activities.”

Since 2013, Szlosek has been volunteering his time, efforts and resources to Spectrum of Dreams. He has helped raise funds for programs such as therapeutic horseback riding lessons, technology advancements, college scholarships to local schools and various other activities that benefit special needs children and their families.

Nearly 200 People Of Families With Special Needs Enjoy Breakfast With Santa

Holtsville, NY -- The Spectrum of Dreams foundation hosted its first-ever 'Breakfast With Santa' event on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Holtsville Fire Department in Holtsville. More than 200 people of families with special needs turned out to the event.

Santa took pictues with the 72 children on hand and delivered a gift to each of them. The event was also highlighted by craftmaking, holiday movie classics 'Frosty' and 'Rudolph' and a hot, free breakfast for all.

The Spectrum of Dreams foundation will host its first-ever Breakfast With Santa event on Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Holtsville Fire Department located at 1025 Waverly Ave in Holtsville. The event is for families and children facing a special need.

The event is free to all attendees.

Besides a visit from Santa, each child in attendance will receive a gift from Santa. Games, movies and activities will also be a part of the festivities. Breakfast will include eggs, bacon, bagels, pastries, coffee and juice.

Backpack To School Program Benefits 50 Students With Special Needs

Holtsville, NY — The Spectrum of Dreams Foundation helped kickoff the 2014-15 school year on a high note donating 50 backpacks filled with school supplies to students in the Sachem school district. It was the first year of the inaugural program, donned the Backpack To School program.

“All of the elementary schools in the district benefitted from the program. We have all the people that have attended our fundraisers and donated time or money to thank for being able to do something like this,” said SOD board member Den Furey.

SESY Raises Over $1500 For Spectrum

Holbrook, NY — Spearheaded by Trish Auletta, Principal, the Sachem Extended School Year Program raised over $1500 to benefit Spectrum of Dreams, the foundation announced today.

The results were a coincidental effort by several volunteers including students, parents and teachers. The program hosted a lemonade stand, sold several raffle baskets and Pampered Chef and Thirty-One products. All proceeds were used to benefit the Sachem Special Education PTA and the Spectrum of Dreams Foundation.

“Words cannot describe how touched we are with the efforts Trish and her team put forth in raising this money,” said Deb Furey, a member of Spectrum’s Board of Directors. “To think of the foundation as a benefactor is amazing and means a great deal to our entire organization. The money will go a long way in aiding the community of financially-challenged children and families facing a special needs situation.”

Golf Outing Set For Monday, Aug. 4 – WE NEED YOU

HOLTSVILLE, NY — Monday, August 4th, 2014 marks the date of the second annual Spectrum of Dreams golf outing to be held at the Island Hills Country Club in Sayville, NY. Breakfast and registration opens at 9:30 with tee off set for 11:00. The $250 single golfer fee ($900/foursome) gets you 18 holes, breakfast, lunch, dinner, gift, cigar roller and Buffalo Wild Wings will be on the course serving up some awesome wings.

If you can’t join us, PLEASE consider a tee sign from the business or family for $100. What makes our 501c3 charity unique is that every dollar goes directly to the people we so dearly represent: children and families that face the dual challenge of handling a special needs situation while having limited financial resources. In addition, all proceeds are kept right here on Long Island.

North Babylon Leadership Groups Raise $1,000 For Spectrum Of Dreams

North Babylon, NY — The North Babylon High School Honor Society and Leaders Club took Autism Awareness Month to heart in April. By selling Spectrum of Dreams wrist bands, the two organizations raised over $1,000 with all proceeds benefitting the foundation. The fundraiser was organized by Spectrum of Dreams founding member Trish Szlosek and spearheaded by Cheryl Rowett, a teacher and director of the honor society program at the school. “The kids really got behind this one and we are honored they chose our organization to be the beneficiary,” said Szlosek.

DDC Casual Dress Day Raises $1,100 For Spectrum Of Dreams

Second Annual Happy Hour Fundraiser set for Friday, May 30, 2014

Holtsville, NY — The Spectrum of Dreams Foundation will host its second annual happy hour fundraiser on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Harbor Crab Restaurant from 6-10 p.m.Admission is $50 and includes full open bar, casual dnner buffet and one sheet of raffle tickets.

Last year’s fundraiser was the kickoff event for the foundation and raised over $10,000. The proceeds were used to support financially-challenged special needs families and children with ipads, therapeutic horseback riding lessons, gift cards, after school tennis programs and more.
