Port Jeffferson Station, NY — More than 60 students of special needs at Sachem East and North High Schools enjoyed bowling, food and fun at Port Jeff Bowl on Thursday. The event was sponsored by Spectrum of Dreams as part of its mission to help children and families with special needs living on Long Island, NY who may require financial resources by providing support that enhances their life skills, education and quality of life.

“To see these kids enjoy this day like this was really something. We are so happy to be involved in something like this,” said Tim Szlosek, President of Spectrum of Dreams.

 


NORTH BABYLON LEADERSHIP GROUPS RAISE $1,000 FOR SPECTRUM OF DREAMS

North Babylon, NY — The North Babylon High School Honor Society and Leaders Club took Autism Awareness Month to heart in April. By selling Spectrum of Dreams wrist bands, the two organizations raised over $1,000 with all proceeds benefitting the foundation. The fundraiser was organized by Spectrum of Dreams founding member Trish Szlosek and spearheaded by Cheryl Rowett, a teacher and director of the honor society program at the school. “The kids really got behind this one and we are honored they chose our organization to be the beneficiary,” said Szlosek.

DDC CASUAL DRESS DAY RAISES $1100 FOR SPECTRUM OF DREAMS

Holtsville, NY – Bohemia-based Data Device Corporation (DDC) sponsored the Spectrum of Dreams Foundation with a casual dress day in February, raising over $1100. The event was spear-headed by Spectrum of Dreams board member Deb Furey.

“Our roots are in the Long Island community and what a great show of support from DDC – a Long Island based company,” said Furey.

Data Device Corporation (DDC) is recognized as the leading international supplier of high-reliability data interface products for military and commercial aerospace applications.

The mission of Spectrum of Dreams is to help special needs children living on Long Island who may require financial resources by providing support that enhances their life skills, education and quality of life.

 


SECOND ANNUAL HAPPY HOUR FUNDRAISER

Holtsville, NY — The Spectrum of Dreams Foundation will host its second annual happy hour fundraiser on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Harbor Crab Restaurant from 6-10 p.m.Admission is $50 and includes full open bar, casual dnner buffet and one sheet of raffle tickets.

Last year’s fundraiser was the kickoff event for the foundation and raised over $10,000. The proceeds were used to support financially-challenged special needs families and children with ipads, therapeutic horseback riding lessons, gift cards, after school tennis programs and more.

The mission of Spectrum of Dreams is to help special needs children living on Long Island who may require financial resources by providing support that enhances their life skills, education and quality of life. Specifically, we provide a foundation for families and children to help alleviate financial burdens that can accompany their needs. We seek to strengthen the educational experience by providing reinforcements for scholarships and classroom reserves. Additionally, equipping these children with the tools to enhance their quality of life with extracurricular activities is a priority.

The Spectrum of Dreams Foundation has announced its 2014 fundraising schedule of events below.

Our mission is to help special needs children and families living on Long Island who may require financial resources by providing support that enhances their life skills, education and quality of life.

In 2013 with your help, the foundation provided over $11,000 in ipads, therapeutic horseback riding lessons, sports lessons, appliances and supplies for career development programs, and gift cards for family resources benefitting special needs children and families across Long Island.
